Andrew Slaton, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC
I am a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) who has been working in the field since 2016, providing psychiatric medication management services to individuals with a variety of psychiatric conditions including depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. I decided to pursue a career as a PMHNP after receiving suboptimal treatments for depression myself as a teenager and young adult, and wanting to do better for people struggling with mental health conditions.
I use evidence-based treatments to help my patients, but also take into account individual factors that can affect treatment responses, to help my patients achieve the highest level of symptom control possible. I believe in addressing psychiatric symptoms by getting to know my patients as whole individuals, taking into account their life experiences, instead of solely focusing on what their diagnoses are. I have dedicated my professional life to achieving proficiency in the art of psychopharmacology, and take great pride in the level of expertise I’ve attained, but I believe no one including myself is ever done learning. I look forward to providing excellent psychiatric care to all individuals I treat.
I take Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Optum, UHC, UMR, Aetna, self-pay.
Important: I am only able to prescribe controlled substance medications to clients who are able to consistently attend in-person appointments in Greenwood during the day on Tuesdays, and I do not have the in-person availability to manage medications for patients needing treatment with a daily benzodiazepine medication or a long-acting injectable medication.
